The Early Words project
As part of the NSW State Government’s Families First initiative, moneys were allocated three years ago for an early literacy program in Western Sydney.
Children First, a Western Sydney early childhood association, set up a team to bring the program into reality.
Along with liaison with many community organisations, the Early Words team has devised a set of materials to be made available to the parents of every child born in the funded areas of Western Sydney.
It’s a great project, and I have enjoyed (and still enjoy) being a part of it. Materials include a DVD, tip sheets, fridge magnets, posters, brochures and a website, all of which I have created, along with the little cartoons that differentiate the ages for which each piece is intended.
